Sickle Pan-African Research Consortium (SPARCO) Uganda: Strengthening Capacity for Clinical Care, Research and Training in Sickle Cell Disease - SCRT Project.

The overall goal of the project is to join and become one of the sites of the Collaborative Consortium of the SCD in Sub-Saharan Africa Network (SPARCO) with a goal of strengthening capacity for clinical care research and training in sickle cell disease in Uganda through implementation of evidence-based interventions. We shall do this by: Aim 1: Developing a centralized, electronic, patient consented, sickle hemoglobinopathy registry for Uganda. AIM 2: To improve SCD patient outcomes in Uganda by establishing regional SCD standards of care. AIM 3. To advance SCD related research by conducting cohort studies and implementation science studies on patients enrolled in the SCD registry, and an additional study on transition from pediatric to adult care by SCD adolescents.
