Roll-out and Scale-up of WHO-endorsed technologies for TB diagnosis in Africa: opportunities, strengths and challenges.
REFNo: HS2393ES

Specific objective 3: To develop an “easy to implement tool” including good practice and lessons learnt from the use of TB laboratory services and diagnostics to support recent pandemic and emergency disease aoutbreaks in Africa as a guide to assist member states in better use of opportunities from TB services for integrated diagnosis of other diseases.,Specific objective 2: To document predisposing, enabling and need factors influencing rapid uptake of WHO-endorsed TB diagnostic technologies,Specific objective 1: To assess the status of uptake of all WHO-endorsed TB diagnostic technologies between 2007 and 2017 in a systematic review and meta-analysis. However, collected and analyzed data will go beyond 2017 (up to 2021 to include the most recent tests even in 2021). Some countries may have not implemented a test by 2017 but thereafter they got resources and adopted those recommendations on TB diagnostics. I will focus on both, public and private sectors together.,Main objective: To demonstrate the implementation status, highlighting strength, challenges and opportunities, of WHO-endorsed technologies to diagnose TB, HIV-associated TB and Multi/Extensively Drug –Resistant TB in Sub-Saharan Africa.,

Africa: Research and Teaching platform for Development - Sustainable Modular Grids for Grid Stability (ART-D Grids)
REFNo: SIR94ES

Together with the African and German partners, the objective of the project is to develop new ways of electrifying remote regions in East Africa through microgrids and their interconnection. These grids on the one hand meet the needs of rural communities for a robust and largely uninterruptible energy supply and on the other hand meet the politically motivated need for a centrally well-manageable power supply within the framework of a national grid. Many years of experience have shown that an interdisciplinary approach makes sense for such a project, since the sustainable operation of infrastructure systems not only depends on sound technology, but social and economic factors also influence sustainable operation.
