VectorCAM Digital Innovations to Advance Entomology Surveillance

To evaluate the accuracy of the VectorCam tool, the results of the VectorCam in morphological mosquito identification through AI based technology in the field is compared to standard methods currently used in Uganda like morphological identification of mosquito under microscope and PCR testing for molecular identification for verification. Additionally, this study will evaluate the completeness, timeliness and cost-effectiveness of entomological surveillance data being captured through VectorCam by VHTs.

Social and behavioral determinants of spatial repellent uptake in Bidibidi refugee settlement in northwestern Uganda

1. To identify specific barriers and facilitators to distribution, uptake, sustained use, and disposal of SR products across three distribution channels in a refugee settlement context in Uganda.
2. To describe end-user experiences around SR access, use over time, and disposal across three distribution channels in a refugee context in Uganda.
3. To examine the social and contextual factors (e.g., geography, environment, local practices, and behavioral, social, economic, and local or national politics) that:
a) influence existing malaria prevention practices (e.g., ITN use, IRS, and other existing primary health care practices), and
b) drive or inhibit uptake and sustained use of SRs.
4. To develop actionable recommendations for effective implementation of SRs in refugee settlement and host community contexts, including social and behavior change communication (SBC), SR distribution, installation, sustained, and disposal mechanisms.
