Feasibility of Nanopore Sequencing for Classification of Pediatric Malignancies in Low Resource Settings

Expand upon our adapted unbiased Nanopore sequencing classification platform while verifying the feasibility of classification of pediatric solid tumors using GEP. Hypothesis: Unbiased Nanopore sequencing can be implemented and can accurately classify pediatric cancer in low and middle income countries,Establish technical and human resources needed to carry out local, real-time sequencing on Nanopore platforms through optimizing existing supply chains in collaboration with Nanopore and establishing standardized virtual and in-person training of local research, laboratory, and information technology support.,Optimize and validate, within the context of use in low and middle income countries, the efficacy unbiased Nanopore sequencing platform for pediatric cancer classification after integrating a Cloud-based computational analysis pipeline. Hypothesis: Using a Cloud-based unbiased Nanopore sequencing approach, clinical laboratories in LMIC can perform sequencing with Cloud based analytical support, accurately classify pediatric cancer diagnosis and genomic subtypes.,To determine the feasibility of implementing and utilizing Nanopore sequencing for classification of pediatric malignancies, as determined by technical quality, data management, and classification accuracy.,

The Next Generation Vaccine Card: Innovative Technology to Improve Vaccine Equity in Kagando, a Rural Setting in Uganda

To implement and evaluate using cluster-randomised and pre/post intervention approaches, the ‘next generation digital vaccine card’ in Kagando Uganda I. Implement the digital vaccine card intervention in rural Uganda II. Evaluate the implementation process and effectiveness of the intervention III. Evaluate the impact of the intervention on equity at the individual and village levels. IV. Conduct an economic evaluation of the intervention.,To co-design and develop a ‘next generation digital vaccine card’ for childhood vaccinations I. Design and build a prototype digital vaccine card and registry II. Use iterative feedback to refine the digital vaccine card and registry III. Develop a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that meets the desired stakeholder specifications,To evaluate the current routine childhood vaccination landscape in Kagando Uganda I. Assess baseline routine childhood immunisation data quality at the facility level using WHO standard indicators II. Assess equity in routine childhood immunisation coverage and timeliness using household survey data III. Collect and analyse qualitative data to understand current knowledge, attitudes, and practices of vulnerable populations from patient and provider perspectives.,To develop and evaluate a ‘digital vaccine card’ and registry that will facilitate the electronic collection of individual data at health facilities to allow improved monitoring of vaccine coverage and timeliness by both healthcare providers and parents/caregivers, in turn improving vaccine equity in rural Uganda. ,

General Objective
To evaluate the clinical presentation, treatment, clinical chemistry, immune chemistry, hematology and other laboratory predictors of clinical outcome in patients admitted with Sudan Ebola virus disease during the 2022 Uganda Ebola Outbreak
Specific Objectives
1. To evaluate the clinical presentation of patients at the time of admission in the ETU and treatment offered during admission as predictors of outcome among Sudan EVD patients admitted in hospital during the 2022 Ugandan Ebola Outbreak (CHEBE Study).
2. To describe the clinical chemistry, immune chemistry, hematology and other laboratory predictors of outcome in patients admitted with Sudan Ebola virus disease during the 2022 Uganda Ebola Outbreak (CHEBE Study).
3. To determine the association between laboratory profiles, comorbidities and clinical outcomes among patients admitted with Sudan Ebola virus disease during the 2022 Uganda Ebola Outbreak (CHEBE Study).
