The development and testing of a low-cost mHealth intervention to improve blood pressure control in Uganda

1) To assess the level of BP control among ambulatory patients attending the hypertension clinic at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital.
2) To explore the perspectives of patients and providers on the acceptability of a mHealth (mobile app) and enhanced self-care strategy and elicit preferred features of a mHealth strategy for BP control.
3) To develop a mobile app for low-cost phones applying a user-centered design process among patients and providers at Kiruddu National Referral Hospital for control of blood pressure.
4) To assess the feasibility of using the m-health app among patients, community health care workers, and clinicians in Kiruddu National Referral Hospital, focusing on acceptability, practicality, demand, adaptation, and pilot the efficacy of the intervention on BP control.
