The transmission of artemisinin resistant parasites before and after conventional artemisinin-combination therapy: a longitudinal study

The main objective of the proposed research is to quantify the transmissibility of artemisinin-sensitive and artemisinin- resistant parasite to mosquitoes before and after drug pressure. Secondary objectives include the assessment of drug sensitivity by ex vivo Ringstage Survival Assay (RSA) and parasite clearance following treatment, as will be assessed by microscopy.

GENDER AND DIGITALIZATION ACROSS CONTEXT (GENDIG)” Enhancing the Understanding and Application of Gender Studies for Sustainable Quality Higher Education and Community Development Research

Overall objective:
To integrate an alternative digital mode of delivery by digitalizing the MA Gender Studies Curriculum and enhance supervision by integrating online supervision.
Specific Program Objectives will include:
1. Digitalize existing courses so that there will be a fully-fledged online MA (Gender Studies) program to concurrently run with the physical MA, Gender Studies Program. (Since the UiA does not have a fully-fledged MA Gender studies program, interested learners from Norway can be encouraged to enroll on the Digitalized MA Gender Studies Program at Makerere University and the same is true for UDSM). (Work Package 1).
2. Develop a joint online MA (Gender Studies) course of GS 7205: Gender and Development Management offered at Mak, with the UiA Development Management Course. The two universities then can thereafter continue to offer this course to students. There will be an opportunity for: student and staff mobility, transfer of credits, joint student and staff research and joint supervision. (Work Package 2).
3. Strengthen collaboration with stakeholders so that efforts of promoting gender equality can be felt in the community. (Through collaboration with and mutual capacity building, short term courses will be developed to meet the needs of the civil society, graduate students will work with civil society to enrich the theory with practice - NGOs and private actors with the aim of enriching community understanding and application of gender knowledge, concepts and good gender practices for development). (Work Package 3).
4. Plan for interaction across programs and contexts (understanding gender relations as contextual and influenced by culture) This will be a pillar in the collaborative –comparative research and publication, as well as action research. Both staff and students in UiA, UDSM and Mak will undertake research under themes. It will contribute to knowledge production on gender relations, gendered experiences across context (Work Package 4)
