MAGNET is seeking to test seven new agency measurement tools in Uganda as part of the MAGNET portfolio:
1. Administration of vignettes (stories depicting the extent to which husbands and wives engage in different modes of joint decision-making over large household purchases).
2. Administration of a few open-ended questions to capture women's decision-making should be recorded with high-quality audio.
3. Survey module to capture persuasion behaviours in the household.
4. Group-level module to capture women’s collective agency
5. Automatic cognition test on an electronic tablet to capture respondents' internalized beliefs about the suitability of women vs men engaging in certain occupations.
6. The critical consciousness scale captures respondents' critical reflection, critical action and motivation regarding household decision-making, work outside the household, and political participation.
7. Survey module to capture benefits from asset ownership.
These tools have been newly developed by MAGNET. In addition, we also plan to ask enumerators a series of questions on their background and attitudes before enumerator training to understand better how enumerator characteristics relate to measured outcomes.

The main purpose of the study is to quantitatively investigate the reintegration experiences of women who were abducted not for the purpose of war fighting, but primarily to be married to combatants, or to be used as servants when too young to be married, and examined the impact of war-driven abduction on human capital development, attitudes, and psychological well-being.

The initial research aim is to generate evidence on current prevalence of positive parenting practices, Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), and violent physical punishment of children. The research will answer the following research questions:

i) Assess baseline, midline and endline levels of positive parenting practices and father-child interaction.
ii) Assess baseline, midline and endline levels of harsh physical punishment of young children and IPV.
iii) Generate evidence on fathers’ gender attitudes and households’ decision-making around caregiving and child care at baseline, midline and endline.
iv) Establish baseline, midline and endline levels of early childhood development outcomes.
