Artificial Intelligence to Scale Early Rheumatic Heart Disease Detection
REFNo: HS8271ES

Aim 3: Compare service and implementation measures between standard non-AI echocardiography compared to the RADAR for RHD screening. ,Aim 2: Compare the screening accuracy of providers (nurses and nurse-midwives) using standard non-AI echocardiography interpretation compared to those using RADAR for RHD screening,Aim 1: Refine and optimize RADAR deployment, workflows, and training protocols,The overall objective of this project is to evaluate whether RADAR can overcome key barriers to scaling RHD screeningspecifically, whether it maintains or improves screening accuracy compared to current approaches and how it can be successfully implemented in diverse low-resource settingsthereby establishing a model for global uptake. In Uganda, we will evaluate effectiveness and implementation of RADAR through a hybrid cluster randomized trial.,

Point prevalence survey of Hospital-Acquired Infections in Selected Facilities in Uganda.
REFNo: HS8360ES

Major Objective: To provide the first standardized estimate of the burden and characteristics of Hospital-AcquiredInfections (HAIs) in participating healthcare facilities and to establish a baseline for Uganda’s National HAI Surveillance Program.

Primary Objective:
• To determine the point prevalence of active Hospital-Acquired Infections (HAIs) among inpatients in participating healthcare facilities in Uganda.
Secondary Objectives:
1. To describe the distribution and types of major HAIs and to identify the highest-risk patient populations and hospital units.
2. To describe the etiology of HAIs by identifying the most common causative pathogens and their antimicrobial resistance patterns where microbiological data is available.
3. To assess key structural and process indicators for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) at the facility and ward levels
4. To build national capacity for HAI surveillance by training a cohort of healthcare workers in standardized surveillance methodologies, case definitions, and data collection protocols.
