Sub-study 1: To evaluate the immunologic, metabolic, and genetic mechanisms of TB
susceptibility in DM.
Sub-study 2: To assess baseline differences in Mtb-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cell functional phenotypes and memory frequencies among LTBI and ATB patients with and without T2DM.
Sub-study 3: To determine the effect of TB preventive therapy using isoniazid therapy on the function and memory frequency of Mtb-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cells among LTBI and ATB patients with and without T2DM.
Sub-study 4: To profile baseline immune-metabolic changes among LTBI and ATB patients with and without T2DM.
Sub-study 5: To investigate gene expression differences in the 6-gene transcriptome signature (TB RISK6; GBP2, SERPING1, FCGR1B, TRMT2A, SDR39U1, TUBGCP6) among LTBI and ATB patients with and without T2DM at baseline and 6 months of TB preventive therapy.
